GILLETTE -- A Campbell County jury on Friday found a Gillette man guilty of murder and conspiracy in the death of a teenager who was strangled and dumped by the side of an interstate highway last year.
The jury found Kent Alan Proffit, Sr., 43, guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in the death of Jeremy Forquer, 19, in Gillette last year.
"I was truly shocked at the verdict," Proffit said afterward. He showed little emotion when the verdict was announced. He could receive a sentence of up to life in prison without parole when sentenced later.
